KLARSCHLIFF GPU-WAECHTER
========================

Keeps an eye on your graphics card: temperature, power draw, memory,
hotspot - and the current in each individual pin of the power connector.

The interface follows your Windows language (German or English). Use the
"Deutsch" / "English" button at the top to switch.

GETTING STARTED
---------------
Double-click "Klarschliff GPU-Waechter.exe". Nothing needs to be installed.

THE KEY VALUES
--------------
Headroom to throttling
  How many degrees your card has left before it slows itself down.
  Modern NVIDIA cards report this headroom instead of a fixed target
  temperature.

Pin current and pin imbalance
  On a 600-watt card about 8 amps flow through each pin - that is
  normal. The danger is imbalance: if one pin carries much more than
  another, the connector is not seated properly or a contact is worn.
  That is exactly how connectors melt. Then: shut down, unplug the power
  supply, unplug the connector, inspect the contacts, plug it back in
  fully and firmly - and measure again.

Memory and hotspot
  The hottest spots on the card. Only older cards report the hotspot;
  the RTX 50 series no longer does.

UNLOCKING MEMORY AND PIN VALUES
-------------------------------
The NVIDIA driver does not report these values. They come from the free
HWiNFO:

  1. Go to hwinfo.com and download HWiNFO64
  2. Start it and choose "Sensors-only"
  3. Turn on "Shared Memory Support" in the settings

GPU-Waechter then reads the values automatically while HWiNFO is running.
Whether your card measures the pins individually is up to its
manufacturer - several current ASUS models do.

LOWERING THE POWER LIMIT
------------------------
The button at the bottom sets the card's power limit, for example to
80 percent. In games this usually costs only a few percent of frame rate
but brings noticeably less heat and noise. Windows asks for admin rights;
the setting lasts until the next restart. "Reset to default" undoes it.

The program never changes anything on your card by itself.

LOGGING
-------
With logging turned on, every reading is written as a CSV file to

  Documents\Klarschliff GPU-Waechter\

so you can check the peaks at your leisure after gaming. The file opens
in any spreadsheet program.

DEMO AND FULL VERSION
---------------------
The demo monitors for 20 minutes per start and shows all readings,
warnings and thresholds. Continuous logging and setting the power limit
are part of the full version.

After purchase you receive a license key by email. Click "License" at the
top of the program and paste the key - done.

The license agreement (LIZENZVERTRAG.txt) is in German, as the product is
sold from Germany under German law.
